Our Heritage
Our Story
From 1923 to 1981, the Scottish Hard Court Championships were played on our courts at Kinburn Park, drawing leading players and placing St Andrews firmly on the national tennis map. For nearly six decades (paused only during WWII), our club was at the heart of Scottish tennis.
For generations, families, students, and juniors have learnt our sport here, competing, socialising, and keeping the local tradition alive. Today, the club continues this heritage with seven outdoor floodlit courts and three mini courts, providing year-round opportunities for every age and level of play.
With more than a century of heritage and generations of loyal members, SALTC is more than a club. It is a meeting place, a gathering space, and a living part of the town.

Looking Ahead
Our 2026 Vision
For over a century, tennis has been woven into the identity of St Andrews. Our vision honours this legacy while building a future worthy of the club's rich past.
Clay Court Transformation
Courts 4–7 are at the end of their lifespan. We will invest in four all-year artificial clay courts providing safer movement and better playability.
Clubhouse Revival
As we approach 100 years of our Pavilion Clubhouse, we will refresh and modernise our social spaces with updated interiors and improved facilities.
Tournament Destination
We aim to re-establish St Andrews as a true tournament destination, bringing back the St Andrews Open and Fairmont Open.
Padel Introduction
Looking ahead, we plan to introduce padel, a fast-growing, social racket sport that brings new members and new energy.
"This vision is bold, and we know we cannot do this without you. Together, we can create a club that is more than a club. A lasting home for community, connection, and tennis."
-- Bernhard Struck, President SALTC
